With the purpose of praising regional products, ASEACAM has created the traditional Christmas baskets of the Community of Madrid, which will be sold mainly in Alcampo and Carrefour with prices ranging from €24.95 to €99.
The Christmas season and the excitement of these dates lead Madrid residents to give away the classic baskets with high quality products to their family, friends and close people once again. Taking advantage of this beautiful custom, the Business Association of Food Industries of Madrid (ASEACAM) launches its Christmas baskets to introduce exclusively regional products into the homes of Madrid residents. These baskets will be for sale in the renowned supermarket chains Alcampo and Carrefour, located in the Community of Madrid. In addition to being on sale in these establishments, several local companies and associate members of ASEACAM have joined the initiative, launching their own Christmas lots.
On November 29, at the Gastronomic Innovation Center of the Community of Madrid (IMIDRA), the presentation of the regional products that are included in the different Christmas baskets offered by the Community of Madrid took place. On the occasion of its launch, a cooking show was held: potato cubes with meat from the Sierra de Guadarrama stewed with wine accompanied by pine nuts, Pecorata with its stracciatella and liquid nougat and honey, all made exclusively with ingredients and products from the Community of Madrid, led by chef Juan Pozuelo, ambassador of these products.
Showcooking of the Community of Madrid
The event was chaired by Mr. Rafael García González, Vice-Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Territorial Planning of the Community of Madrid, who received all the guests and the media at the launch of this new Christmas basket campaign. He wanted to thank the entire industry that participates in the process of Madrid’s agri-food products, from production to marketing. Likewise, he has mentioned the interest of the Community of Madrid in the sector, supporting and promoting it with measures such as allocating 30% more of the budget and simplifying bureaucratic procedures. In addition, he has announced the “Agri-Food Cluster of the Madrid Industry” with a budget of 63 million euros in 2024 that will serve to support and promote the entire sector.
Distrito Agencia was in charge of the media call so that ASEACAM and, above all, the Madrid products could have visibility, greater reach and even be known by the end customer. In previous years they were in charge of all communication, from design to media dissemination, being a complete success, since, in 2022, they managed to sell twice as many Christmas baskets as in 2021. This advertising agency is very proud of his Madrid origin, which is why he always participates in this type of initiatives. It has also collaborated with brands in the capital, such as the García Leñero artisan workshop, thus showing its support for its neighboring companies.
Local products
With this campaign, we seek to promote local products made and/or produced in the Community of Madrid, offering a wide range of high quality, such as many other products from our community; wines, beers, sausages, cheeses, teas, pickles, sweets and products produced and/or transformed in our community. The purpose is to highlight the gastronomic wealth of the region and promote pride in consuming Kilometer 0 products. The purpose of the action is to create synergies between local companies, promoting collaboration and highlighting the quality of the Madrid food industry. Last year, more than 3,000 baskets were sold with nearly 50 different companies in the Community of Madrid, giving a leading role to the products of these agri-food companies in Madrid, so this year it is expected to surpass these data.
Bet on the agri-food sector
This sector has multiple opportunities for growth in the medium and long term within a sustainable initiative that encourages the consumption of local products. The Community of Madrid with ASEACAM, thanks to its commitment to research, development and innovation (R+D+I), the integration of industry and primary production as well as the geographical location where it is located, stands out in this way, compared to other autonomous communities. This is a strategic part for Spain and key to boosting the economy and supporting local entrepreneurship in our country.
The agri-food sector has a great weight in the national economy, contributing 7% of the gross value added. Currently, 1,692 industries operate, generating around 6.5 billion euros annually and generating around 173,000 direct and indirect jobs. The international projection is also very notable, since food exports in the Community of Madrid during the last year reached 1.8 billion euros.
